Meet the CVVA Principal

David Gilbert is the principal of the Cumberland Valley Virtual Academy (CVVA).

Prior to joining CVVA, Mr. Gilbert served as a Supervisor of Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology (CIT) for the district with a focus on secondary integrated arts, program of studies, and community partnerships.

After graduating from Messiah College, Mr. Gilbert began his career as a social studies teacher at Carlisle High School. He joined Cumberland Valley as a high school assistant principal, where he served for nearly six years before assuming his position as a CIT in 2018. Mr. Gilbert received his Master’s Degree and administrative certification from Penn State University and is currently enrolled in the Educational Leadership and Management doctoral program through Drexel University.

Mr. Gilbert believes that CVVA meets a unique need in the Cumberland Valley community and he is looking forward to making sure that students and families have a variety of educational options in the online environment.
