ELEMENTARY STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Attendance for elementary students is recorded by their teacher in the morning just as it would be for students attending school in a face-to-face building. If students are missing class due to doctor's appointments or other excusable reasons, parents should let the teacher know about the absence and submit an absence note using the procedures listed below. If students miss school and an absence note is not submitted, the absence will be considered unlawful.
MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Attendance for middle school students is based on attendance in periods 1-4. Because these courses meet on Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday, each period's attendance is equal to a half day absence. If students miss a class due to a doctor's appointment or another excusable reason, parents should submit an absence note using the procedures listed below. If students miss school and an absence note is not submitted, the absence will be considered unlawful.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Attendance for high school students is determined by students activity in their Genius courses. In order to be counted present each school day, students must log on AND complete an assignment each day in Genius. Students can complete their work at any time of day as long as there is one assignment completed each school day. If students are not able to log in and complete an assignment, they should submit an absence note using the procedures listed below. Failure to submit an absence note, may result in an unlawful absence being assigned to the student.
ABSENCE DUE TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES
If students at any level are unable to attend their assigned classes due to technical difficulties or a loss on internet access/power outage, families should develop an alternative access plan. Families can consider accessing the internet by bringing their children to the CVVA Learning Center (451 Skyport Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050), going to a public library, or another public WIFI enabled location with computer access.
If students are facing hardware or software issues that prevents them from accessing their classes, a HelpDesk Ticket must be submitted to the Cumberland Valley IT Department. The HelpDesk can be accessed by clicking here. Parents of elementary and middle school students should communicate this issue to their children's teacher(s) through Seesaw/Schoology and email the CVVA office by clicking here. High school students should email the CVVA office by clicking here.
